Eight parking contractors hired by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation have been fined over Rs 5 lakh for alleged violations in 12 parking sites in the Karol Bagh Zone, the civic body said today.
During the inspection, it was found that contractors were not complying with the terms and conditions of the contract. The parking did not have proper demarcation with yellow paint for allotted parking area, parking staff was not wearing uniforms and parking fee receipts were not issued through hand handled devices, the NDMC said.
Eight contractors were fined a total of Rs 5.52 lakh for violations in managing the parking lots, it said in a statement.
Toughening its stand against "irregularities" in some of the parking lots under its jurisdiction, the Chairman of NDMC's Standing Committee on Wednesday had directed the officials to prepare a list of black-listed contractors.
The NDMC currently runs 116 parking lots under its jurisdiction, and the municipal body has decided to take actions regarding the "disputed" lots.
