8 northern states join hands to tame gangsters

Aiming to contain the activities of gangsters, drug smugglers and criminals, eight nothern states in an inter-state coordination meeting discussed ways to effective share information including a common database on offenders.

This meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Rohit Choudhary, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Punjab and was attended by the senior officers from eight states.

Choudhary said the meeting was fruitful and the participating officers discussed and deliberated on how to tackle crime through concerted efforts to nab the offenders.

It was concluded to form a joint group and hold inter- state coordination meeting quarterly, he added.
 

Addressing participants, the Director General of Police, Punjab, Suresh Arora said the objective of the meeting was to ensure peace, law and order with the mutual coordination of police forces of different states and agencies.

Arora said that sharing information and exchange of dossiers would also help in solving various cases and find absconding lawbreakers as well as wanted criminals.

To tackle the increasing interstate crime regular sharing of information and improving the response on information shared were also discussed in this meeting.

The meeting was attended by Kuldip Sihag IGP, Haryana, Ram Kumar IG, UP, Ridhim Aggarwal, SSP (STF), Uttarakhand, Harendra Kumar, SP, Rajasthan, Khushal Sharma, SP, Himachal Pradesh, Madhur Verma, DCP, Crime, New Delhi, R K Jaiswal, IGP, Punjab and other officers.
