8 of 2 families killed in road mishap

Eight members of two families, including two women, were killed today in a road accident near Ramgarh village on the Barnala-Moga Road in this district, police said.

The car, going towards Moga, collided with a truck after one of its tyre burst, police said.

The car was badly stuck under the truck and residents of nearby village had a tough time pulling out the bodies, police said, adding that the truck driver fled the spot.

The families of Buta Singh of Valtoha in Tarn Taran district and Roor Singh of Zira in Ferozpur district were returning from Uppli village in Barnala after attending a social function, police said.
 

The deceased have been identified as Boota Singh (40) of Valtoha, his wife Beant Kaur (37), daughter Lovepreet Kaur (9), sons Gurpreet Singh (7) and Jashandeep (5); Roor Singh (60), his wife Paramjit Kaur(58)and son Harjit Singh (26).

Barnala SSP Opinderjit Singh Ghumman said the police have launched investigations after registering a case against the unknown driver of the truck.
