8 of a family killed, 3 injured in Raj road mishap

Eight persons of a family, including five children, were today killed and three others injured when a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck in Barmer district, police said.

The victims were on their way to Ramdevra in Jaisalmer from their Samuja village in Barmer district when the mishap occurred in Kalyanpura area, they said.

The deceased were identified as - Gigaram (62), driver Ashram (42), Mohini (15), Mamta (7) Dabu (4), Poni Devi (32), Rekha (10) and Pukhraj (6), police said, adding the bodies have been sent for post mortem.

The three injured - Sita (40), Asha (2) and Praveen (10) - are being treated in hospital in Jodhpur, they said.
 

An FIR has been lodged against the driver of the stationary truck for negligence, police added.
