Eight people, including two women and four children, from Pakistan were detained here this morning while they were trying to enter India through the Nepal border.

They were stopped by Sashastra Seema Bal at Sonauli in Maharajganj district for checking but failed to produce documents about their identity, according to SSB sources.

During questioning, one of them claimed that several years ago they had crossed over to Pakistan and had got married and settled there. Now they were trying to return home, sources said.

They claimed that they belonged to Jammu and Kashmir and were coming from Kathmandu, the sources said.

The SSB and local police are verifying their credentials.
