Years after their 'Gurudakshina' magic sizzled the screen across Bengal, actor-turned-MPs Tapas Paul and Satabdi Roy will come up again in a repeat of the blockbuster Anjan Choudhury flick.

Bengali screen legend Supriya Devi will be the mother of the 'Dadar Kirti' actor in the musical 'Sukhe Theko' re-invoking the spirit of the 80s romantic tear-jerkers like Chhotobou.

"There will be little contemporasiation and I will stirctly adhere to the strong emotional quotient which marked any Anjan Chowdhury production in those days and hence such a cast from Tapas-Satabdi to Supriya and even veteran theatre personality Manoj Mitra," the director of 'Sukhe Theko' told PTI.

"I intend to make it shades different from the present day Tollywood flicks both in the mainstream or arthouse gharana. It will be a throwback to the tear jerker of the 80s and 90s when women of the family used to flock to theatres and identified with the situations and characters. That was more real and grounded and not how scenes are depicted in today's films. All the cast members have been chosen to recreate that old school of acting," the director said.

Asked for her response, Supriya Devi said, "I had been sorely missing the films I had been familiar with in those days, those golden phase of Uttamkumar and even during the later period. Even the 80s films' milieu is sadly missing now though I must say have liked the work of some present day directors."

"Even if everything seems to have changed now, don't the audience still yearn for those movies," the 'Basu Parivar' and 'Door Gagan Ki Chhaoy Nein' actor said.

"To add contemporary elements while bringing back the feel of the 80s, we have introduced the reality show references instead of falling back on college socials and para soirees, a must in those films," director Soumendu Mondal said.

In the script, Tapas Paul, enacting a prominent musician, lords over the panel of a reality show and events unfold concerning the other woman in his life.

"Whatever news appeared about Tapasda has no bearing as he is more of a veteran in the film industry having delivered many a hits than a politician for us," he said.
