An 80-year-old widow was allegedly murdered by four persons over a land-related issue in Churu district of Rajasthan today.

Jhuma Devi was sleeping in her house in Ramsisar village when the accused Mohan Lal, Sukhram, Sanwarmal and Mularam, all brothers and relatives of the victim, entered her house in the wee hours, police said.

They beat the victim and dragged her out. Then, the accused banged her head with their vehicle, leading to her death, police said.

The woman had borrowed Rs 5,000 from the accused for funeral of her son five years ago. Upon failing to return the amount, she promised to transfer one bigha of her land to them, they said.

However, it led to dispute as the accused wanted front portion of the land, which the woman was not willing to give. She had instead offered them rear side of the plot, police said.

The body was handed over to family members after postmortem. A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, they added.
