800 govt personnel, cops fined for ticket-less travel by DTC

A total of 2,825 ticketless passengers were found which included 794 government officials and police personnel during teh drive launched on Monday.

"We have collected a fine of Rs 4. 07 lakh from them," a senior DTC official said.

He said 1,636 employees have been found wanting in performing their duties during the drive and disciplinary actions are being initiated against them.

Nineteen employees have been terminated and 17 were suspended for various offences, the official said.

The DTC has decided to continue its crackdown on ticketless travelers and within a month the strength of the ticket checking squad will be enhanced to 1,800 from existing 1,000.
