800 kg of food products containing tobacco seized

Despite a ban imposed by the state government on manufacturing and sale of food products containing tobacco and nicotine since August 15, units in Nathupur, Kundli and Sonepat were found making and selling such products, the spokesman said.

Food safety officer, Sonepat, along with district health officers and police personal raided the factory and confiscated 44 packs of the banned products under the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006, he said.

The team also seized sample of the products and sent them for chemical examination to the State Food Laboratory, he said.

He said after the imposition of ban on gutkha and pan masala products, this is third biggest raid in the state, where huge quantity of products containing tobacco was confiscated.
