800kg poppy husk seized from abandoned truck

Police today seized an abandoned truck and its cargo of 800kg poppy husk at Gandwan village here.

A mini-truck had run into the wall of a co-operative bank in the village following which, police said, its two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against two unidentified persons, they said, adding that the vehicle was also impounded.

Twenty bags, containing 800kg poppy husk, were hidden under bags of citrus fruit inside the mini truck, police said.
