As many as 84 candidates filed their nominations today for the May five Assembly elections on the second day of the poll process, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anil Kumar Jha said.
Jha said 27 candidates had submitted their nominations on April 10, the first day when filing of papers began.
To a query on the prominent names in today's list he said, "sitting MLAs and ministers are yet to file their nominations".

To a question, Jha said a case has been filed against Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil for his recent alleged hate speech in Belgaum and also against Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa for a similar speech in Shimoga.
"We have given the speech copies (both) to the EC and are awaiting directions from it", he said.
To a query on former Bangalore City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji challenging his transfer pursuant to the EC's direction before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Jha said "we have the received the notice in connection with the Original Application filed by Mirji".
