In keeping with its monsoon preparedness, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation has completed 85 per cent of work on desilting of drains and is likely to complete the task by month end.
North Delhi Municipal Commissioner Praveen Gupta alongwith senior officials of the NDMC today inspected drains of Shakurpur, Azadpur, Harsh Vihar, and Lawrence Road and Wazirpur industrial areas.
"More than 85 per cent of work of desilting of drains has been completed and is likely to be completed by May 31," Gupta said.

The Commissioner also directed officials to identify vulnerable points and deploy portable pump sets wherever required to ensure no waterlogging there during the rainy season.
During the inspection of Shakurpur (Britannia Chowk) to Eklavya Marg drain, the Commissioner directed the officials to check all the intersecting points of drain with small drains to ensure free flow of water.
He also directed the officials to deploy super suction machine for proper desilting of drain if need be and also asked them to have proper coordination with the other departments to check proper outfall of small drains into big drains.
Gupta also expressed displeasure over the sanitation situation in certain area and directed officials to ensure proper cleanliness.
During the inspection of the Lawrence Road Industrial Area drain, he directed them to write a letter to Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) officials regarding the condition of drains under their jurisdiction.
At Wazirpur Industrial Area drains, he directed the officials to check all vulnerable points once again to ensure proper flow of rainy water and also to remove encroachments specially which are creating hindrance in cleaning of the area.
