851 commercial vehicles put on notice

As many as 851 commercial vehicles were today put to notice for violating permit conditions, which includes driving without licence and faulty meters among others, by the Delhi Revenue department using its recently acquired powers.

The Transport Department had recently delegated powers of suspension of permits for violations by commercial vehicles under relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act to Magistrates of Revenue Department.

The Revenue department officials conducted the enforcement drive, at several locations in the capital, with the assistance of civil defence volunteers, officials of Transport Department and Delhi Police.

"By the end of the day, almost 3058 vehicles of various categories including auto-rickshaws, tempos, e-rickshaws, grameen seva vehicles and RTVs were inspected and 851 put to notice for violation of various permit conditions," a senior official said.
