89 per cent water in Barvi dam

Barvi dam in this district, which supplies water to Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivili and Mira-Bhayander cities, is 89 per cent full as on date.

Last year on the same day, it was only 59.77 per cent full. Presently the dam, which is owned by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, has a total stored water of 208 TMC. The total capacity of the dam is 233.07 TMCs, an official release said today.

In the last five years, the average storage was to the tune of 152.30 TMCs.

The present percentage of storage of other projects with the last year's storage in brackets is: Tansa 80.56 pc (78.53 pc); Modak Sagar 49.43 pc (61.01 pc); Andhra 67.94 pc (42.48 pc); and Bhatsa 85.24 pc (70.87 pc), it added.
