A total of nine Bangladeshis who were in a detention camp in Tezpur Central Jail were released Tuesday for deportation to their country, a senior police official said.
These nine persons were among 22 Bangladesh nationals apprehended from Sonitpur, Marigaon and Dhemaji districts on the charge of illegally entering the country.
They were handed over to the Border Police to be deported to the neighbouring country from Assam's Karimganj district, Superintendent of Tezpur Central Jail Mrinmoy Dawka told reporters here.
