Between April to December last year there were seven such incidents, while this year two have been reported, Civil Aviation Minister said in the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
All these incidents except emergency landing due to onboard medical emergencies and the one in which the tail of an Air India plane scraped on the runway in Mumbai when landing were being investigated by Permanent Investigation Board (PIB), he said.
Meanwhile, in reply to a separate question, Singh said his ministry has received requests for grant of traffic rights for various schedules on overseas sectors by the private airlines.
As December 31, 2011, he said, Jet Airways has demanded for approximately 24,000 seats per week, Kingfisher Airlines 20,000 seats, SpiceJet 66,000 seats and IndiGo around 20,000 seats to operate flights on overseas sectors.
He said, the requests were under consideration of the government pending formulation of the policy to enhance utilisation of unutilised traffic rights created under various agreements.
