9 killed in road mishap in UP

At least nine people, including two minors and five women, were killed in the wee hours today when a truck and a tractor collided with each other at Moth town in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi district.

The incident occurred when the truck coming from opposite direction rammed into the tractor in which around 40 to 50 people from a Bhujond Village were travelling to visit Ratan Garh Mata temple in Madhya Pradesh's Datiya district, said SSP Jhansi Kiran S.

Two people died on the spot while seven others succumbed to their injuries at a nearby Medical College and Hospital in Jhansi, he said.
 

Eleven others were stated to be critically injured, the officer said, adding that rest of them were being treated at the Medical College.

The deceased were identified as Ashiqa, 12, Bikki, 13, Ram Sakhi, 42, Meera, 45, Prema, 40, Santoshi, 36, Urmila, 40, Rameshwar Nai, 50, and Ashok 50.

All the victims belonged to Bhujond Village located in the Jhansi district.
