Nine more persons tested positive for dengue, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease in Jammu region to 66.

"Nine persons, including three women, tested positive for the vector-borne disease yesterday, out of which four each from Jammu and Kathua districts and one from Reasi district," Director of Health Services (Jammu) Baljeet Singh Pathania told PTI.

He said that the total number of patients who have so far been tested positive in the Jammu region has reached to 66.

Pathania said that blood samples of nearly 500 persons with dengue-like symptoms have been tested so far, out of which 66 were found positive although no serious case has been reported so far.

"Majority of the dengue patients who were admitted to various hospitals were discharged after treatment," he added.

A health advisory, issued by the Centre, has been published widely in local dailies to create awareness about the disease, Pathania said, adding that people need to take precautions to save themselves from mosquito bites.
