900 grams of heroin seized from Nepali national

About 900 grams of heroin, worth Rs one crore, were seized from a Nepali man by SSB near Indo-Nepal border under Sonamani godown police station area of this district today.

Acting on a tip-off, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) caught a Nepali citizen and recovered two packets of heroin from a bag he was carrying, Deputy Commandant of SSB Mukesh Kumar Gautam said. The man was arrested.

Both packets, hidden under a pile of clothes, weighed 450 gram each totalling 900 grams, Gautam said.

The packets bore mark of Thailand.

The arrested man was identified as Kisan Rayee, a Nepali national.
 

During preliminary interrogation, it came to the fore that the man was to hand over the consignment of the heroin to somebody in West Bengal, he said.
