91 injured in mine blasts in J-K during 'Op Parakram': JK Govt

91 people were injured in mine blasts along Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir during "Operation Parakram" in 2001-02, the state Legislative Council was informed today.

In Jammu region 73 people were injured, while in Kashmir Valley 18 persons were wounded, Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo said answering questions.

Operation Parakram, which saw massing of troops on either side of the International Border (IB) and along the Line of Control (LoC) in the region of Kashmir, took place soon after the December 13, 2001 terror attack on Parliament.

The Defence Ministry has formulated a scheme for payment of ex-gratia compensation to the people who suffered because of landmine casualties.
