912 houses allotted to beneficiaries of Government scheme

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister N Chinnarajappa today alloted 912 houses to beneficiaries of a Government-supported scheme.

These houses have been constructed at a cost of Rs 18 croreunder the Integrated Housing Slum Development Programme (IHSDP). The beneficiaries were selected through a lottery system.

The Government will conduct a survey and construct more houses for eligible persons in the district under IHSDP, he said.

Chinnarajappa said "912 houses have been constructed with an amount of Rs 18 crore under IHSDP in the district."

Each house costs Rs 1,95,000 of which Rs 64,000 is the Centre's share, Rs 75,000 is the State's contribution while beneficiary has to put in Rs 56,000.
 

Later, Chinnarajappa, who is also the Home Minister, directed officials to make all necessary arrangements for the ensuing "Mahasivaratri" festival in Smarlakota Kumara Bhimeswara Swamy Temple in East Godavari district.

He also asked officials to take steps to prevent pollution of the temple's holy tank.
