The Gujarat government has sent 94 repeat offenders to jail under the Prevention of Anti- Social Activities Act (PASA) for their involvement in crimes related to cow slaughter and transportation of beef in the last five years, the Legislative Assembly was told on Tuesday.
In his written reply to a query of Congress MLA Nathabhai Patel seeking details on the action taken against repeat offenders, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who also handles Home ministry, said police had identified as many as 310 repeat offenders during December 2013 to November 2018.
"Of the 310, 94 persons have been sent to jail under PASA," Rupani said in his reply.
Responding to a related question, Rupani said the state government had permanently forfeited 370 vehicles involved in illegal transportation of beef, cows and its progeny between September 2017 and December 2018.
