97 poor students get English language skill certificates

A total of 97 poor students were today awarded certificates by the US consulate general here after completion of two years of English language skill programme.

Consular officer, US Consulate General, Kolkata, Madelyn Mahon handed out certificates to 97 students at the graduation ceremony of the English Access Microscholarship programme in the presence of the teachers and parents of the School of Creative Learning at Nargada village near Danapur in Patna district.

The programme in Bihar was inaugurated in December 2015 to help empower disadvantaged youth.

The students mostly in this programme, funded by the US consulate general, Kolkata, are first generation learners from tribal areas.
