A 97-year-old woman underwent angioplasty at a hospital here with the doctors claiming her to be oldest women to have gone through such a procedure.
The nonagenarian woman was attending to her activities on her own when she felt severe chest pain. She was admitted to the K G Hospital around 4 PM yesterday by her neighbour, since her son was in Bangalore, a hospital official said today.
Prompt team work and immediate care within the window period of three hours by the multi-speciality hospital saved the old woman's life.

The blocked portion of the artery was dilated by a balloon. After which 'drug eluting stent' placed immediately following which the woman's heart started pumping normally and she was relieved of her pain totally, he said.
"She is the oldest woman in the world who underwent stenting at Coimbatore, which is a world record," Bhakthavatsalam claimed.
Post-angioplasty, the woman recognised the doctors, nurses and her relatives -- six children, 11 grand children and 21 great grand children.
