9th Cornerstone Cup Karnataka Golf Festival set to start

The 9th annual Cornerstone Cup Karnataka Golf Festival, the state's largest amateur golf tournament, is set to get underway in the city's prestigious Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) course from tomorrow.

A four-day competition across five handicap categories, it will be played in the modified stable ford format on full handicap and will conclude on Sunday.

So far, 500 registrations have come in from across the country, including that of several prominent names from the world of business and sports. Apart from the title sponsors, the Cornerstone group, Karnataka Tourism actively supports the event as the presenting sponsor, as well as a host of other reputed brands of the country.
 

The Indian Golf Union (IGU), the apex body for amateur Golf in India, sanctions it and only golfers with valid IGU National Handicap Service handicap are eligible to represent India.

Former cricketers Venkatapathy Raju and Sujith Somasunder will be among the prominent names teeing off on the opening day. Other star who will be seen in action in the tournament include former athlete Ashwini Nachappa and cricket legend Kapil Dev on Saturday as well as cricketer C M Gautham on the final day.
