A day-old girl was found abandoned in bushes here, following which she was admitted at a government hospital, police said today.

The passersby spotted the girl laying in the bushes in Ramadaspeta area of the city last night and they informed the police. She was rescued and admitted to the Women and Child welfare hospital, Three Town sub-inspector K Lakshminarayana.

The condition of the baby is stable and it was ascertained after examination that she is just a day-old, a doctor said.

According to some locals, two women were seen in that area last night. We checked government general hospital records and found out that two women, one from Ravulapalem and another from Hukumpeta, had delivered girl child yesterday, he said.

"Both of them were discharged from hospital at night. We are suspecting that one of them might be involved in this," he added.
