In a blatant show of muscle power, around 150 entered the premises of Old Faridabad police station and allegedly manhandled the Station House Officer and some other personnel when they tried to mediate a dispute between two groups.

The incident happened last night when SHO Bhartender Singh, who was on the upper floor of the police station, heard some people quarrelling in the ground floor, police said today.

When he came down, he found about 150 heavy built men were standing in the courtyard of the police station, and a group of six men and a woman and another of 25 men standing on the other side of the gallery and abusing them.

When Singh enquired about the matter, the group of six men and a woman alleged that the group of 25 men were threatening them to abduct their son and kill him, a senior police official said.

Singh then tried to mediate, to which the other group became aggressive and demanded the officer to throw the woman and her family outside, so that the mob could teach them a lesson.

When he asked them not to take law into their hand, the group of 25 men allegedly manhandled the SHO and some of his men, during which Singh uniform was torn, the official said, adding they were rescued by other policemen present there after they took them inside a room and called for additional force.

The situation was brought under control when additional force arrived and 11 people were arrested after a case was registered against them under various sections of IPC.

The 11 arrested arrested have been identified as Aman, Brijesh, Adesh, Aman, Nigam Singh, Surjit -- all residents of Mewla Maharajpur, Neeraj -- resident of Khanpur Delhi, Rambir, Gagan -- both residents of Old Faridabad, Kuldip -- a resident of Bhood Colony Faridabad and Kuldip -- a resident of Baselva Colony Faridabad.

Some of the accused in the attack managed to flee, the investigating officer Narendra Kumar said they will be arrested soon.
