The characters Baloo, Mowgli and Shere Khan are set to be brought to life by screenwriter Steve Kloves.
Kloves is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros to once again bring the famous characters of the Rudyard Kipling tale on the big screen, reported Daily Mail.
The movie is expected to take on a much darker feel that does not include any musical numbers. The original Kipling story was nothing like the Disney version and fans can expect the new film to be quite grim and foreboding.
While Disney had previously released two live action Jungle Book films in the 90s, both movies failed to be a commercial success.
The first one, called Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book', flopped in 1994 and starred martial arts expert Jason Scott Lee as Mowgli.
It was followed almost five years later by 'The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story', which avoided the cinemas and went straight to video.
