Anand Lal Bannerji, a 1979 batch IPS officer, will be the new Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police.
Bannerji, who is presently Director General (Vigilance), will succeed Rizwan Ahmed who retires today, official sources said.
The new DGP will assume the charge in the evening today.
Ahmed who was appointed DGP on January 1 this year, was accorded a warm farewell at Police Lines earlier today. He also took the salute of the police parade.
