The doctors at Sola Civil hospital here today successfully conducted abortion procedure on a 16-year-old rape victim following the High Court's assent.
The Gujarat High Court had yesterday allowed the girl to abort her 8-week foetus in response to her parents's petition.
"The girl is doing fine after the operation. Police have also obtained necessary reports from the doctors as it concerns a rape case," said the girl's lawyer Manoj Shrimali.

As per the FIR registered with Sola police earlier this month, Sanjay Thakor (22) allegedly raped the girl on three occasions, leading to the pregnancy. Thakor has been arrested.
The police also collected DNA sample of the foetus and sent it to Forensic Science Laboratory. Report of DNA analysis would be used as the evidence to link the pregnancy with the rape, said advocate Shrimali.
Inspector A D Parmar, in-charge of Sola police station, confirmed the development. "We have also informed the court today that the collected tissues have been sent to FSL for DNA matching," said Parmar.
