A O Smith launches Green RO water purifier to expand presence

Global water technology companyA O Smith Corporation today announced the launch of Green RO water purifier in an effort to strengthen its presence in the water purifier segment in India.

The enhanced version of the product will save two times more water than an ordinary RO purifier withbreakthrough Advance Recovery Technology (ART), the company said in a release.

It said in the first phase, the product has beenlaunched in the top 23 cities and the company plans to introducethe same in other Tier II cities early next year.

AO Smith said the water purifiers market inIndia is pegged at about Rs 3000 crore and is growing indouble digits.
 

With 100 per cent purification USP and exclusivepatents, AO Smith India is one of the major players in thewater purifiers segment in the country, with double digitgrowth in its reverse osmosis (RO), it said.

"We're also one of the top three players in the storage water heaters category in retail sales with high double digit market share," A.O.Smith India Water Products Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Parag Kulkarnisaid.

"We're expecting strong double digit growth inthe coming years and our share of revenue from the waterpurification to our overall revenue would certainly increase," he said.

Claiming to be first water heater company from U.S. to enter India in 2008, A O Smith Corporation said it has invested USD 75 million in India so far.

AO Smith's business grew eight per cent globally last year while India revenues increased in high double digits with aturnover of over Rs 130 crore in 2016-17 in India, the companyadded.
