A section of Rajput community today pelted stones at the BJP office here and damaged a car parked outside it, while holding a rally to seek quota in state jobs and educational institutions for the poor among upper castes.

The activists of "Shree Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena" pelted stones during their rally from Vidhyadhar Nagar to Vidhansabha.

"During the rally, some of the members pelted stones at the office damaging the party hoarding, banners and a car parked outside the party office," said BJP Spokesperson Anand Sharma.

The outfit's national president Sukhdev Singh admitted the pelting of stones by outfit's workers but attributed the same to some unruly members of the group, saying "It was our rally today from Vidhyadhar Nagar to Vidhansabha, but the stone was pelted by some unruly members."

"We have now gathered near the assembly building to press for our demands including reservation for economically backward castes," said Singh.

"The police has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order during the protest," said Additional DCP Goyesh Goyal adding "They are sitting on a dharna near the assembly building."

"Shree Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena" is a separate outfit from "Karni Sena" which had hit headlines sometime back for sometime back for staging protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming movie Padmavati.
