Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) G S Rath has said he went through a "traumatized phase" when some representatives of the people accused him of corruption in the state assembly last year and he had no opportunity to defend himself.

I went through a trauma in March last year when I was targeted in the assembly where I could not defend myself," Rath, who is retiring today, said last night, and termed it as wild allegations and culmination of "political interference."

"It's correct and not(construed as) political interference if any MLA or MP gives certain information or caution the police deviating from the rules ... But when it affects discipline and functioning of the police then it is interference," Rath said when asked whether he was a victim of political interference.

"Yes, problem of interference is there---- many people targeted me in the Assembly last March, that is also a culmination of those things... The question is the matter which is debated on the basis of accusation where the officer can't have any opportunity to defend himself.

"It should be debated on a proper forum, with due respect to the individual concern. But most of the time people make wild allegations out of grudge or out of certain vengeance. That is because you have not paid attention to the unlawful requests," Rath said.
