He was just a week away from marriage but his dream came crashing down and attempted sucide as he ended up in CBI net for procuring doctors' registration from Medical Council of India through allegedly fraudulent means.

This is the story of a doctor posted in a government hospital in Asansol, West Bengal, who was arrested by CBI for procuring registration from Medical Council of India (MCI) through allegedly fraudulent means.

The reason for attempted suicide by the doctor (name withheld) was that he was to tie a nuptial knot next week and instead he landed up in jail.

He was one of the doctors arrested for alleged nexus between MCI officials and students pursing medical degrees in countries like Russia and China.

CBI officials grilled him for hours and as soon as the news announcing his arrest was shared with him, the doctor sought time to go to the wash room where he slashed his wrist with a surgical blade.

Concerned over his inordinate delay in the washroom, CBI sleuths broke open the door and found the doctor's wrist bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital where he was treated.

The doctor, surrounded by CBI sleuths, is now under arrest and would be produced before the designated court tomorrow.
