Devotees, who need to perform 'angapradakshinam' (rolling on the floor of the temple) at the famous hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara near here have to produce Aadhaar cards as identity proof from tomorrow.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which manages the temple, has decided to make Aadhaar card mandatory for these devotees from July 20, Temple Public Relations Officer Talari Ravi said.

The Aadhaar card was made mandatory to prevent repeated visits of some devotees prevent other devotees from getting the privilege of performing Angapradakshinam, he said.

"Aadhaar details are to be recorded before tickets are issued to the devotees doing Angapradakshinam," he said.

Angapradakshinam around the sanctum sanctorum, measuring about 500 feet, has been observed by devotees on the hills for over 2,000 years.
