An Aadhaar updation centre has been opened today at the General Post Office (GPO), Kolkata in association with Unique Identification Development Authority of India (UIDAI) to extend Aadhaar updation facilities to people through post offices.
Inaugurating the facility at the GPO, Chief Post Master General, West Bengal Circle, Arundhaty Ghosh said people will get the updation facility gradually from other post offices in the state.
Any person from anywhere in the state can access this facility at the Kolkata GPO, she said.

Starting from GPO Kolkata, the facility will be extended to all head post offices in the state and will be further extended to both Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ghosh said.
This outlet will cater to the needs of people for rectification of erroneous entries in their Aadhaar cards and for updation and necessary corrections in demographic data such as name, address, date of birth, telephone number etc against a nominal charge of Rs 25 per card, Ghosh said.
The outlet will also be adequately equipped to update photographs of card holders at an additional price of Rs 25 per card, she added.
