Chief Vigilance Officer of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) Yatendra Kumar has sought voluntary retirement from Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

The competent authority has approved premature repatriation of Kumar, a 1996-batch IAS officer, to his cadre state--Tripura, an order issued by Personnel Ministry said.

As per rules, the final approval for the voluntary retirement is given by the state-cadre concerned.

The repatriation of Kumar, before completion of his tenure here, is "for voluntary retirement from service", it said.

The Chief Vigilance Officer acts as distant arm of Central Vigilance Commission to check corruption.
