Popular playback singer Aalaap Raju has added another feather in his musical-cap with the official teaser of 'Vaan Engum Nee Minna' from the upcoming Tamil movie 'Endrendrum Punnagai' making waves on the music circuit besides topping the iTunes India Charts.

The music for the movie starring Jiiva and Trisha is composed by Harris Jayaraj and lyrics penned by Madhan Karky.

This is another peppy number from the trio after the immensely popular 'Ennamo edho' from the 2011 Tamil blockbuster 'KO' which fetched Aalaap the Filmfare award for the best male playback singer last year.

"In fact, I should have got 15-16 awards for the song," he said.

He had played the bass guitar for Harris Jayaraj for a song in a film and had sent his singing demos to him as well as A R Rahman. "Harris responded first and that is how I got to sing 'Ennamo Edho. The recording was in 2010 and the rest is history.

The song was special because the music was peppy and the lyrics by Madhan Karky energetic. The Telugu version of the song was also a hit, he said.

"In fact, 2010 was special in many respects."

It was the year his daughter was born. Besides he also got to render 'Engeyum Kadhal', 'Endan Kann Munnae' and other numbers. It led to other chart-busters like 'Kadhal oru Butterfly', 'Anjana, Anjana', 'Akila Akila' and 'Vaayamodi Summa Iru Da.'

Aalaap has done about eight songs with Harris Jayaraj and almost all has been among the top of the charts. The ninth song with Harris will be released sometime next month for Udhayanidhi Stalin-Nayantara starrer 'Idhu Kathirvelan kadhal.'

A self-taught musician, Aalaap said he started late and "touched" a guitar when he was 19, a time when most aspiring singers could have held several 'kutcheris' (concerts).
