Election Commission of India has allotted 'pot' symbol to Aama Odisha Party (AOP), a newly floated political outfit led by former Congress MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, a party release said here today.
"Aama Odisha Party has been allotted pot (Mathia in Odia parlance) symbol by the Election Commission of India to contest the next general elections," it said.
AOP was formed by Patnaik, son-in-law of Assam Governor J B Patnaik, after the former was expelled from the Congress last year.
Patnaik, who is also the editor of an Odiya daily, had recently announced that he did not rule out aligning his fledgling political party with the BJP if such a situation warranted.
