AAP today said it is against the construction of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal as Punjab does not have enough water to share with other states.
"Punjab does not have adequate water to irrigate its own agricultural fields and the groundwater level has also gone down to alarmingly low levels. In such a situation, it is not in a position to give water to any other state," party's Punjab affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had yesterday clearly stated that he was against the construction of the canal, he said.

Badals and Punjab Congress were politicising the matter, he alleged and said the situation of groundwater in Bathinda, Fazilka, Mansa and Sri Mukatsar Sahib districts among others had become worse.
"The people of the state specially in Malwa region are suffering from water-born diseases," he said.
