AAP today attacked Punjab's ruling Akali Dal for not taking action against cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia and its Phillaur MLA Avinash Chander who were summoned by ED in connection with a probe in the multi-crore rupee drug racket in the state.

Punjab AAP convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur said the Akalis had accepted the resignation of former cabinet minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur after his son Damanvir was summoned by the law enforcement agency two years ago but were not acting agianst Majithia and Chander.

"Damanvir has recently demanded Phillaur Akali MLA Avinash Chander's resignation from the post of Chief Parliamentary Secretary on moral grounds," he said.

Chotepur said more Akali leaders would demand Majithia's resignation in the days to come.

He claimed ED records showed that drugs worth thousands of crores were both smuggled in and out of Punjab by cartels.

The agency's probe officer Niranjan Singh was transferred 20 days after he summoned Majithia to investigate his role in drug trade, and later on the transfer was stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chhotepur said.
