Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat octogenarian Padamshree awardee doctor Daljit Singh today filed his nomination papers here.

Keeping with the image of the party, Singh rode a cycle rickshaw to the district court complex where he filed the papers.

Singh's entourage included nearly 150 people on foot. There were no motorised vehicles.

On the way from his house to the court complex, Singh was greeted by groups of people at various points.

Before filing the papers, he paid obeisance at the famous Shivala Bhaaiyaan Temple.

The battle for the Amritsar seat is already seeing a fierce face off between Congress candidate Amarinder Singh and BJP nominee Arun Jaitley, who had been locked in a bitter war of words on several occasions.
