AAP government appoints lawyers to represent in Delhi HC

A fresh set of lawyers has been appointed to represent the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi in the Delhi High Court.

A notification issued by the Law and Justice Department said that Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has appointed advocate Raman Duggal as standing counsel to represent Delhi government in civil matters in the High Court.

Advocates Sanjoy Ghose, Gautam Narayan, Devesh Singh, Satyakam, Peeyoosh Kalra, Anuj Aggarwal, Naushad Ahmed Khan and Santosh Kumar Tripathi have been appointed as Additional Standing Counsel.

The AAP government is yet to appoint standing counsel for criminal matters.

The names of advocates for appointment of standing counsel for civil cases were cleared by the Lt Governor on May 1 after his meeting with controversial Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, the Chief Secretary and the Home Secretary.
