Aiming at promoting the rich history and cultural heritage of the national capital, the Delhi government has proposed to set up Art and Culture libraries in all 70 assembly constituencies.
"Art and Culture department has started working on the project. To promote culture and heritage of the capital, government is planning to build Art and Culture Library in all the 70 constituencies.
"Delhi is an ancient city with a great historical past. It was the ruler's city dating back hundreds of years. These libraries will provide knowledge about historical and cultural aspects of the city's past to its residents," said a senior government official.

Delhi, with its chequered history, has a few old libraries, which include Hardinge Library (Hardayal Municipal Public Library), Delhi Public Library, Municipal Corporation of Delhi library at the historic Town Hall, Central Secretariat Library, besides libraries at the National Archives and the Archaeological Survey of India, among others.
During the AAP government's public consultations on its budget the locals had put forth demand for libraries in their localities.
"We have started looking for land to build Art and Culture Libraries to be run by the government. We will also approach DDA for land," the official added.
