Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today claimed Odisha remained backward because of BJD's misrule in last 17 years and said the party would emerge as an alternative in the state in 2019 Assembly elections.

BJD is ruling Odisha for last 17 years because there was no alternative for the people but AAP would provide a viable alternative in next elections, member of party's political affairs committee, Ashutosh said here.

Speaking at AAP's first state-level convention here, he said Naveen Patnaik's only qualification to rule the state is that he is the son of late Biju Patnaik.

Questioning BJD's contribution to the state, Ashutosh said Odisha is now considered to be one of the backward states because of BJD's misrule and poor governance.

Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra and another PAC member of AAP Sanjay Singh also addressed the convention herewhich was presided over by party's state convener Nishikant Mishra.

AAP leaders said all parties including BJD are dominated by tainted politicians and AAP has ambitious plans for Odisha to form government in the state in 2019.

People of Odisha would give BJD a fitting reply in next elections and they would no more be misled by Patnaik's cheap vote bank politics, they said.

The party organised a rally here in which AAP volunteers from across the state participated.
