AAP leader Anoop Nautiyal today asked the Centre to reject the Uttarakhand government's proposal for a smart city to be developed on a tea estate on the city outskirts, alleging that it is wrapped in a "web of blatant corruption", besides being anti-people and anti-environment.

Nautiyal, in an email letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleged that the state government had vested interests behind the proposal.

The email was also forwarded to Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul and Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

"The proposal from the state government which envisages building a smart city on a tea estate in Dehradun is wrapped in a web of blatant corruption and is completely anti-people and anti-environment," Nautiyal said.

The AAP leader had unsuccessfully contested from Tehri Lok Sabha constituency in the 2014 general election.
