A legislator of Aam Aadmi Party has been booked for allegedly duping his business partner of Rs 6 lakh here.

A case of cheating was registered against Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar yesterday at Ashok Nagar police station in East Delhi, police said.

Vinod Kumar alleged in his complaint to the police that Manoj used to work as a property dealer before venturing into politics.

Vinod claimed that he was Manoj's business partner and had given Rs six lakh to him to purchase a plot in November 2012.

"However, he later came to know that the plot was not actually owned by him and the documents shown to him were forged.

"The victim has further alleged that whenever he asked the MLA to return the money, he used to give him assurances," said a police official.

Vinod claimed that on Saturday when he went to Manoj's residence to seek the refund, he was allegedly abused and roughed up by his men and was asked to leave.
