AAP today slammed the appointment of Asha Kumari as Congress general secretary incharge of Punjab, replacing Kamal Nath, saying the party was not serious about getting rid of corruption in the state.
"By appointing Asha Kumari as Punjab incharge, Congress party has proved they are not serious about getting rid of corruption in the state. She was convicted by Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) court and awarded one-year jail in a 60-acre land grabbing case. After tainted Kamal Nath, her appointmentshows Congress is short of clean leaders," AAP's Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh said.
He said Congress was not showing political will to counter menace of corruption and malpractices.
Alleging Nath's role in 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the AAP and Shiromani Akali Dal had opposed his appointment as AICC general secretary of Punjab.
