Mayor of BJP-ruled SDMC Shyam Sharma today alleged that AAP MLAs were trying to create an impression that they are not being allowed to work by it, even as Delhi Assembly ordered initiation of contempt proceedings against the civic body's commissioner and principal secretary on a complaint filed by a party legislator.

The AAP MLAs have been issuing all "baseless and false" statement to cover their "failures and passiveness", Sharma said.

"An impression is being created intentionally to establish that the AAP MLAs are not being allowed to work whereas the fact is that the corporation has not passed any resolution to stop the MLAs from utilising their MLA fund for the developmental works and has not issued any instruction to the officers," he said.

The 'Questions and Reference Committee' of Delhi Assembly recommended starting contempt proceeding of the House against SDMC commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel and principal secretary (urban development) Janak Diggal for not appearing before the panel in connection with complaint that the civic body is stalling development works being done through MLA-LAD fund.

The committee, headed by Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, had summoned the SDMC commissioner and the principal secretary and other senior officials on a complaint filed by AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj against "stalling" of various civic works by the SDMC.

However, Sharma stated that the allegations levelled by AAP are "baseless" since the SDMC House has not cleared any proposal to disallow any work suggested by the MLAs.

"In fact the resolution concerns with that for getting any works done on the properties of the SDMC an NOC (no objection certificate) from the corporation will be mandatory was passed by the civic body," he said.
