AAP MLAs today urged Lt Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal to approve the Delhi government's doorstep delivery of ration scheme for the "sake of poor citizen" of the national capital.

Earlier this week, Baijal had asked the AAP government to refer the proposal to the Centre with full details, including implementation issues, before a final decision is taken.

"This scheme will benefit the poor people a lot and end their sufferings as they will not have to stand in queues for hours to get their quota of ration. I request the L-G to approve this scheme," Food and Civil Supply Minister Imran Hussain said in the House during a discussion on the issue.

Few AAP MLAs also displayed posters reading "L-G sahab garibo ki socho (L-G sir please think of the poor) in the House.

During the discussion, Deoli MLA Prakash Jarwal and Okhla legislator Amanatullah Khan targeted the chief secretary and the L-G for delay in implementation of the scheme.

They appealed to Baijal to clear the scheme for the benefit of the poor.
